Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the arts of performance, and which we now know by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly be a qualifier for the category of child prodigies. These traits were natural for an Irish-born child with talented parents and a loving family. Maureen arrived in this nurturing sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. She was raised by her parents as well as family members. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen was a star athlete and loved rough games. Her natural ability to perform was the perfect match for her interest in sports. As a result, she won the majority of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances within her own country. When she turned 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live the dream of her in the world of classical music and opera.
